Starcaps
Starcaps are collectible cap-discs based on pets, stickers, items, events, and other Stardust Trails things.
Starcaps are individual collectibles now. Two Starcaps with the same art can still have different serial numbers, grades, conditions, play counts, values, authenticity, and history.
Starcaps can have:
Serial number
- each copy has its own number.
Rarity
- common, uncommon, mythic, starlit, and more.
Condition
- based on condition and use.
Times played
- how many times that specific copy was used.
Grade
- if it was sent to the Grading Bureau.
Authenticity
- unknown, verified, fake, replica, altered, etc.
Effect origin
- whether an effect was natural or added later.
Estimated value
- a rough value in stardust.
Individual Copies
If you own two of the same Starcap, they are still separate copies.
One might be unplayed and verified. Another might be heavily played, altered, fake, listed on Starswap, or graded differently.
So check the serial number and details before trading, selling, donating, or grading.
Natural Effects vs Added Effects
Some Starcaps come from packs or sources with effects already on them. Those are natural or original pulls and are usually more valuable.
If an effect is added later through customization, the Starcap may look cooler, but collectors usually consider it altered. Altered caps can still be fun, but they usually appraise lower because they are not original.
Fakes and Oddities
Some Starcaps may be fake, replica, forged, altered, or suspicious.
If the Grading Bureau finds a fake, it does not get a normal numeric grade. It is permanently branded as fake or counterfeit.
Fakes can still be part of the weird collector world, especially in the Observatory Archive Counterfeit section, but they are not treated like verified originals.
